You must always secure your firearm and ammunition separately so that they are not accessible to children or other unauthorized persons. The rules may be different from sport to sport, so always listen carefully to your instructor or range safety officer. Gun safety is everyone’s responsibility, no matter your age or ability level. Keep the weapon on safe until you intend to fire
Treat every weapon as if it were loaded. Never touch the trigger on a firearm until you actually intend to shoot. Guns do not always mean safety gun control is the act of laws that control how guns are equipped and who can own them.
Gun safety requires that you consciously practice safe muzzle control, check for open actions and keep your fingers outside of the trigger guard every time you handle a gun. All guns are always loaded. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
You will see all sorts of rules in the owner’s manual of a new gun, on the back of every box of ammunition, and posted at the public range. It is your responsibility to always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction 100% of the time whether you are setting up in your work area, loading, reloading, shooting, showing clear, or laying the firearm down on the bench.
